When people say, “You really, really must ” do something, it means you don’t really have to. No one ever says, “You really, really must deliver the baby during labor.” When it’s true, it doesn’t need to be said.
Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Sound of Silence Hello darkness, my old friend, In restless dreams I walked alone And in the naked light I saw “Fools” said I, “You do not know And the people bowed and prayed
by Simon and Garfunkel
I’ve come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you.”
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence.
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, “The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.”
And whisper’d in the sounds of silence.
Lelaina Pierce: I was really going to be somebody by the time I was 23.
Troy Dyer: Honey, all you have to be by the time you’re 23 is yourself.
Narrator: When people think you’re dying, they really, really listen to you, instead of just…
Marla Singer: - instead of just waiting for their turn to speak?
All that crap you hear on TV about communication and expressing feelings is a lie. No one really cares what you have to say.
I wonder how long it would take for anyone to notice if I just stopped talking.
there were two foreigners.
will you be embarrassed every time when you see a foreigner?
well, it depends..sometimes I feel happy ‘cause they speak English and that’s my language, seems so familiar…but sometimes you do feel embarrassed…wow they are american….their accents
wow…you can tell from their accent..
